The Paramos Atlas in Colombia is a result of an effort among many environmental associations, including the Environment Ministry, Territorial Development House, Von Humboldt Institute, Ideam and IGAC. In addition, the Colombian government was supported by the Dutch Embassy.

The Environmental Ministry made a call to create strong legal instruments to allow protection and conservation of the Colombian Páramos.

The Atlas is composed by four chapters. The first one contain all the geographic and sociopolitcs information of the country. The second one brings informations about the characteristics of the Páramos. The third one shows the descriptive information about the complexity of the Colombian Páramos. The last one treats about the particular aspects of those sensitive ecosystems.
