SELPER invites remote sensing experts from Latin America to meet and discuss the involvement of Earth Observation in the global environmental governance and the green economy during the SELPER 2012 symposium on Earth Observation for a green co-developed world.

SELPER 2012The XV edition of the SELPER symposium will be held in Cayenne, French Guiana between the 19 & the 23 of november of this year. The online submission system is already available at the conference website, where you will also find detailed information about the event. The abstract submission deadline is June 4, 2012.

Earth observation plays a key role in redefining goals of an effective global governance of the environment by providing essential information on a fast changing world. The SELPER 2012 symposium objective is to highlight the remote sensing experiments performed in Latin America that are involved in the definition and the monitoring of new targets for global environmental governance, eradication of poverty and green economy.

At a historical moment when multiple and global crises hit together finance, food security, migration, energy, water, biodiversity, desertification, natural disasters, globalization, health, climate and poverty, Earth observation is playing an increasing role in delivering to scientists and policy makers, key information on the status and dynamics of the environment and territories.

SELPER will also provide 4 training courses during 18 days before and after the symposium.
