Archer Aviation announced that its eVTOL Midnight will be manufactured by Stellantis, one of the giants in the automotive market, which includes brands such as Fiat, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, among others. Production will take place at the Covington, Georgia facility starting in 2024.

Stellantis is expected to be the exclusive manufacturer of Archer’s eVTOLs, so much so that it will provide up to $150 million to Archer as the steps in Midnight’s development progress. In addition, the automotive brand intends to increase its stake in the aviation company.

“Deepening our partnership with Archer as a strategic investor with plans for growing our shareholding demonstrates how Stellantis is pushing the boundaries to provide sustainable freedom of mobility, from the road to the sky. Supporting Archer with our manufacturing expertise is another example of how Stellantis will lead the way the world moves.”

Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis.

Stellantis has been a strategic partner to Archer since 2020 through various collaboration initiatives, and as an investor since 2021. During this time, Archer has leveraged Stellantis’ deep manufacturing, supply chain, and design expertise in connection with Archer’s efforts to design, develop, and commercialize its eVTOL aircraft.

The Midnight has capacity for four passengers and one pilot, has 12 motors and can reach 150 mph. The eVTOL has recently completed the Preliminary Project Review (PDR) phase and is now advancing into the development stages.
