The Brazilian Airspace Control Department (DECEA) published on Tuesday (20) the “National UAM Operational Concept”, which aims to establish the characteristics of air operations to serve as a basis for future implementation projects in airspaces under Brazil’s jurisdiction and related to Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

According to DECEA, DCA 351-7 provides for the “execution of studies, activities, innovations and implementations, considering the structure already established for helicopter operations”. The aim is to organize the airspace and optimize the infrastructure to allow eVTOLs, electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, to begin operations.

DECEA points out that this is a concept that is constantly evolving and may be modified in line with technological development and the carrying out of tests, validations, verifications and simulations. Based on this and on contributions from society, the document will be updated and may generate complementary publications.

The document can be accessed on DECEA’s website and is open to suggestions from society until March 31, 2024.
